Burtonwood Get The Hump ! Monday 8th March 2010,01:00:00 Martin Humphreys scored a stunning opening goal inside five miniutes to give Albion 3rds a great start to this division 3 fixture. A great through ball from midfield saw Humphreys control and then finish into the top corner in style, but his golden touch deserted him 5 minutes later when clean through.
The first half finished all square after Albion switched off allowing Burtonwood to equalise.
Albion started the stronger team in the second half with Ste Parr and Greg Bradley thwarting most of Burtonwood's chances.
Bad defensive play at the other end though presented Nathan Conlon with Albion's second after he latched onto a poor back pass to prod home to make the score 2:1.
With still more than 30 minutes remaining in the game Albion were awarded a penalty which Nathan Conlon coolly slotted home taking his tally for the season to 11.
More chances went begging from Hughes and Houghton in the final third of the game but a hard working display was rewarded with 3 points. That now makes it 4 wins out of 5 games!.
Final Score: Runcorn Albion 3rds 3:1 Burtonwood Albion Res.
Man of the Match: Mike Worrall

DOUBLE DREAM LIVES ON ! Sunday 7th March 2010,14:00:00 A tense atmosphere was spreading around this game with Blackbrook leading the chase for the title and Albion hunting them down like wounded animals after a great recent run of results. In the early stages of the game Albion where much the better team creating a handful of half chances. The Lead was took by Albion when an acute pull back by Gray Jones found Liam Sweeney and he confidently tucked it home. Blackbrook where looking flat on their heels at times and couldn't handle to neat inter changes of play from Albion and Carl Rendall nearly increase the lead after a neat turn pulled a good save out of the Blackbrook goalkeeper.
Blackbrook found a bit of believe with some long looping balls forward but where lucky to stay in the game after Albion had two goals disallowed after tight offside calls. The tactics of Blackbrook where starting to pay off and they got themselves level when a bouncing ball in the box found its self home after a Blackbrook body clattered into Albion keeper Dave Dwyer.
Albion where still the much better side going into the break but found them selves behind after the 60 minute mark when a second ball feel to Blackbrook striker Kev Pickton and him chipped it over a out coming Dave Dwyer. Substitutions where made for Albion giving them an extra attacking threat and it payed off when a deep cross found Wagg who slammed it home with a great half volley.
The game was becoming tight with both teams knowing the result was massive, each team wanted to win the game to give them selves the edge going into the final quarter of the season. Albion won the game when Carl Rendall was fouled by the Blackbrook keeper. Captain Karl Jenkins stepped up for his effort to be saved by the diving keeper only for the referee to order a retake after a goalkeeping infringement. Second time of asking Jenkins placed it into the bottom corner and gave Albion all three points.
This was a massive result for Albion and a well earned win after a hard working performance from each individual. This will really give Albion the taste to go on and battle to win the title, this will continue with a another tough home game against Warrington side Beeches.

Sefton Keeps Title Challenge On Track Sunday 7th March 2010,21:00:00 Albion Reserves traveled to Winwick hoping for another three points and to keep the pressure up on the chasing pack. Albion never really got going and only for man of the match James Sefton, Albion could have been in trouble. It wasn't until after half time that Albion started to play some football, a move down the right hand side saw Paul Molloy find the top corner from 10 yards out to make it 1-0 and take his tally to 19 for the season. A few more quality stops late on from James Sefton saw Albion run out 1-0 winners. Albion will be hoping for a much better performance next week against Mosscroft in the Depot Cup.
