RUTHLESS RUNCORN
Monday 8th February 2010,14:00:00
Runcorn Albion hosted Eagle Sports in the Guardian Cup this week and with a full strength team going into the game, Albion were very much looking forward to the game.
Early on in the match things where tight but Albion had the edge, creating the greater chances and having much control of the possession.
Eagle where finding it hard to keep onto the ball and where punished for their errors when a good passage of Albion play found Liam Sweeney where he neatly stroked the ball into the net.
Into the second half and the only change was that Albion had became more dangerous on the attack.
They where rewarded for their good play when a good move down the left found Karl Jenkins who confidently slotted the ball home.
Albion where now totally over running Eagle and any chance created was quickly cleaned up by a solid Albion back four.
The game was wrapped up half way through the half when Liam Sweeney brought the ball down well to wrong foot the goal keeper with a great finish.
Eagle were now playing for pride and things didn't get any better for themselves when Albion ruthlessly punished them again when Karl Jenkins latched onto a great through ball to coolly took the ball around the advancing Eagle goalkeeper.
The game was now over but Albion did not let off on a beaten Eagle team and the fifth goal was scored when good persistence from Jeff Enamu created a chance for Tom Southall to place the ball into a empty net after a poor goalkeeping mistake.
On the whole it was a great overall performance from Albion completely dominating the game and ruthlessly punishing the Eagle team.
The man of the match award was given to midfielder Karl Jenkins after a tireless performance in the heart of the midfield.

WELL "WORTH" IT
Monday 8th February 2010,16:00:00
Albion Reserves beat Monk Sports Reserves on Saturday 4-1 with not one but four goal of the season contenders.
First to find the net was Sean Murphy, who's rocket of shot from the corner of the area stuck in the stantion of the goal to put Albion in the lead.
Albion's second goal came courtesy of Simon Worthington with a volley from the edge of box that found the top corner.
James Baines headed home Albion's third with a looping header from a free kick.
Albion then gave away a free kick which resulted in Monks scoring from it before Albie Wright's breakaway and curling shot into the top corner made it 4-1 to the Albion.
Next week Albion take on Frodsham Vets in The Runcorn Cup quarter final hoping to secure a place in the semi finals.

3 2-1
Saturday 30th January 2010,20:00:00
After a disappointing defeat last week Albion 3rds put in a hard working performance to take all three points at home to Widnes Parklands.
A Jon Frame goal in the first half gave Albion a 1-0 half time lead.
The second half started with Albion in control and Mike Poole's hard work paid off after he forced the Parklands defender into giving away an own goal.
The visitors replied 10 minutes later to make the score 2-1.
Albion had further chances with Pete Murphy hitting the bar and Anthony Potter having a goal waved away after the ball appeared to cross the line.
Albion held out for the win with Cameron Bradley getting the man of the match after an outstanding performance in midfield.
